5 beds | 3.1 baths | 3 Acres | MLS/ID#: 3567167

A classic New Vernon Colonial is situated in Tempe Wick Estates, a wonderful Harding Township neighborhood set on a series of quiet cul-de-sac streets. The flowing floor plan of five bedrooms, three full baths and a powder room offers traditional design elements in a private three-acre setting surrounded by manicured grounds. Two rear bluestone terraces invite warm weather entertaining, while several sets of French doors reinforce the home’s strong indoor-outdoor connection.

Approached by a paved driveway with ample parking, the graceful symmetry of the architecture fits beautifully into its natural setting. A landscaped front walkway leads to the covered front porch and entrance foyer. To the left of the entrance is a sun-splashed dining room featuring crown and chair rail moldings, hardwood floors and two built-in corner cabinets. To the right, an expansive living room is warmed by a masonry gas fireplace bordered by a marble hearth and custom cherry mantel. Steps down from the living room lead to a family room with high ceilings, a wet bar, exposed brick wall, charming built-ins and a French doors to the bluestone terrace. A staircase ascends to a private en suite bedroom tucked under cathedral ceilings.

Also adjoining the living room is a fireside den with beamed ceilings that opens to the terraces. A kitchen renovation from Canterbury Designs includes custom-crafted cherry cabinets with convenient pantries, ample storage and pantry space, plus granite countertops and a peninsula breakfast bar. Upper-end appliances from Thermador, Dacor and Viking streamline meal preparation. An adjacent laundry/mud room offers storage cabinets, a sink, folding counter and door to the side yard. Completing this level is an updated powder room.

Upstairs, the master bedroom with walk-in closet has an updated master bath finished in tumbled marble and stone. Spacious secondary bedrooms share another full bath upstairs. An unfinished basement contains a roomy wine cellar and future finished space.

Additional highlights of this timeless Colonial include newer windows, hardwood floors, high ceilings, neutral paint colors, a Generac whole house generator with automatic transfer switch, multiple zone of heating and central air conditioning and upgraded 200 amp electric.

New Vernon is convenient to Interstate 287, Route 202 and just 30 miles to New York City, which is easily reached by Midtown Direct trains in neighboring Morristown or Madison. Known for its low property taxes, exceptional estates and pastoral scenery, Harding Township offers an excellent lifestyle in a highly desirable location.

Harding Twp. NJ

Harding Township (New Vernon), NJ real estate market

Established in 1922, Harding Township was named for then-President Warren G. Harding.  Its location 45 minutes from New York City belies the pastoral scenery; where horses, sheep, and cows graze in meadows and open fields. There are about 50 miles of bridle trails winding throughout Harding Township, which are maintained by the Harding Township/Green Village Bridle Path Association. This atmosphere is ensured for future generations since 40% of the township is protected open space.

New Vernon and Green Village are two sections of Harding, in southeastern Morris County. Forbes magazine ranked New Vernon as "one of the 25 most expensive zip codes" in the country in 2006.

Green Village is an unincorporated area within both Harding Township and Chatham Township. Located just north of the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, Green Village has its own post office and fire station.
